30 Cm high, large, very rare Herend statue. The sculptor's name Donner G.M. (Photographed). The name of the statue: knocker. The knocking, Hungarian folk dance.
The first piece of this Herend sculpture was made in 1954. This form was also exhibited in the Museum of Applied Arts in 1954, on the 115th anniversary of the founding of Herend.
The piece I offered for sale was also made in the 50s, so it’s one of the first. The blue Herend trademark used in the 50s, the Herend printed on the mass and the number of the form are marked on the bottom.
The statue is wonderfully painted, her face is fresh, and the wrinkles of her scarf and dress are lifelike. Flawless.
The sculpture was created by Maria Donner Gertrúd (painter, sculptor, 1902-1986).
Donner G.M. she has been involved in sculpture since 1928, making mainly porcelain sculptures and small sculptures for the Drasche and the porcelain factory in Herend. Her husband, painter Miklós Farkasházy, was the great-grandson of Mór Fischer, the founder of the Herend porcelain manufactory.
